This game involves a ball being sent around a spinning wheel with slots in it. You bet on where the ball is going to land and you play against the house (the croupier). The difference between European and American Roulette is that American Roulette increases the odds by having two zeros instead of one, So there are 38 slots andf not 37 as in Europe .
Playing Roulette
1) You place your bets either within the table's layout or around the outside. Betting starts when everyone has placed their mark.
2) The croupier sends the ball running around the spinning wheel, during which time you can still place bets. Only whenthe ball is getting close tyo dropping in a slot are there 'No More Bets'.
3) Once the ball has landed in a particular slot, the winning spot is marked, the losing bets collected and the winner paid.
4) Guessing a number close to the winning number also gives you some return of money gambled.
The house advantage Where the casino has a single zero on its wheel, the house advantage is 2.7%. For double zeros, the percentage rises to 5.26%.
'En Prison' rule Where the En Prison (in prison) rule applies, a ball that lands in the zero lets you take back half your bet or leave it in on the table for another betting round. This is a one-time condition, so a second zero will lose you your whole bet.
' La Partage' rule Just like En Prison, except that there is no opportunity for a second bet.
Roulette payouts Betting 'Straight-Up' means gambling on only one number and having 35:1 odds. If there is no house advantage, European Roulette gives you 37 and American Roulette gives you 38.
